ISSUED 8:55 am THURSDAY (3-16-23) DISCUSSION: After a brief warmup Thursday into Friday with some light rain showers Friday, another splendid winter weekend (if you like winter) is likely this coming weekend. The snowpack, especially on north-facing slopes and wooded locations should survive upper 40's F Thursday into Friday afternoons as light rainfall ahead of the next Friday cold front produces only about a quarter-inch of liquid and the milder air is somewhat dry, allowing snow on the ground to refrigerate itself. While some post frontal light upslope snow may accompany colder air infiltration Saturday, but I expect only an inch or less accumulation (maybe none). Sunday should be dry. That assumes a weak disturbance that could form along the cold front does not form in time to affect the Canaan. If it forms earlier than I currently expect, some more snow accumulation is possible (a long shot at this time). Temperatures will be well below the seasonal averages over the weekend, with lows and highs in the 20's F Saturday, and lows Sunday 5 to 15 °F, highs upper 20's F. I don't see any further winter weather is in sight a week out so the next Fearless update will be when changing conditions warrant a release. Your Fearless Canaan Weatherman (aka: Bob Leffler)
